Grasselli Art open book supports are tailor-made for each object, and address all the unique conservation requirements every book presents.
One key to good good mount design is to keep the visible parts of the support as discreet as possible, this is especially true with book mounts.
Unlike the mainstream use of visually clumsy acrylic or foam cradles, our book mounts are light and inconspicuous. When designing a mount we closely consider the complexity and subjective behaviour of each object, then apply the most suitable mounting system. At the mount assessment stage exacting physical and angle measurements are taken. We then custom fold a stainless steel spine to match the book profile, and add acrylic or stainless leaves depending on curatorial and structural needs. Text block support, softlon spine cushioning and poly-strapping are then used where necessary.
The end product is a support that causes no detrimental stress to any part of the object and maximises viewer accessibility.
